Friends Benefits

The Hawke's Bay Helicopter Trust (HBHRT) is extremely grateful to all support received from individuals, families and businesses across Hawke's Bay.

To acknowledge your contribution the Trust has established the ‘Friends of the Trust’ Benefits.   Eligibility, guidelines and benefits of a ‘Friend of the Trust’ include:

a) The ‘Friend’ requesting transport must have:

(i) been a financial Friend for a period for at least three (3) months prior to the request; and

(ii) the financial donation is $40 and over; and

(ii) suffered an accident or illness resulting in hospitalisation within New Zealand.

b) This service is available to “Friends” and immediate family residents with “Friends” who are unable, because of their condition, to travel via regular transport, and the service is not forthcoming from ACC, Health Services or any other source.

c) If you are hospitalised out of the Hawke’s Bay region, but within New Zealand, we may arrange free transportation in one of the fixed wing air ambulance aircraft, from the hospital you are recovering in, back to Hawke’s Bay to allow you to continue your recovery near home and family.

d) Transport is subject to prevailing weather conditions and aircraft availability.  Every endeavour will be made to transport when requested but delays may occur due to factors outside the control of the Hawke’s Bay Helicopter Rescue Trust.

e) The Hawke’s Bay Helicopter Rescue Trust & the Hawke’s Bay District Health Board have the sole and absolute discretion as to when the transport flight will be undertaken.
