Rescue from Fishing Trawler

8 years ago - 18:30 - Tasked by the NZ Rescue Co-ordination Centre to respond to a 37 metre fishing trawler, 80 nautical miles north-east of Gisborne, to winch recover male in his 30’s who had been seriously injured, after being hit from behind by a large fish bin. A St John Intensive Care Paramedic was winched onto the vessel with a stretcher. After stabilizing the injured man on the deck of the ship, both parties were winched into the helicopter for the 35 minute trip back to Gisborne Hospital.

Hospital Transfer to Wellington

8 years ago - 16:00 - Transported a male patient suffering from serious cardiac complications from Hawke’s Bay Hospital to Wellington Hospital.

Emergency at Waipatiki Beach

8 years ago - 15:30 - Responded to just south of Waipatiki Beach to recover a female in her 20’s who had fallen from the coastal walking track and sustained a suspected broken ankle. She was extracted using the helicopter winch, after being stabilized by an Order of St John Paramedic.

Hospital Transfer to Wellington

8 years ago - 09:00 - Transported a female patient suffering from pregnancy complications from Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldier’s Memorial Hospital to Wellington Hospital.

Injured Fire Fighter in Mohaka

8 years ago - 14:00 - Responded to Mohaka, after a male Fire Fighter had sustained suspected pelvic injuries after falling down a steep bank while fighting a scrub fire. An Intensive Care Paramedic from the Order of St John attended to the man, before both were winch extracted from the scene. He was flown to Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldier’s Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

Medical Emergency in Akitio

8 years ago - 17:30 - Airlifted a male in his 70’s from the beach settlement of Akitio, suffering from a suspected stroke. He was flown to Palmerston North Hospital for further treatment.

Mountain Bike Accident near the Whirankai Mill

8 years ago - 13:00 - Responded to the Pan Pac Mountain Bike Park near the Whiranaki Mill for a teenage boy who had sustained a serious facial injury after coming off his bike and impacting a tree. An Intensive Care Paramedic from the Order of St John was winched down to the incident site for initial treatment. Once he was stabilised, the Paramedic and the young man, were winch extracted from the forest and flown back to Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldier’s Memorial Hospital for treatment.

8 years ago - 16:30 - Transported a female patient suffering pregnancy complications for Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldier’s Memorial Hospital to Wellington Hospital.

Car Accident in Flemington

8 years ago - 13:00 - Responded to Flemington to a vehicle rollover. Transported a male in his 40’s to the Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldier’s Memorial Hospital with suspected spinal injuries.

Hospital Transfer from Wairoa

8 years ago - 16:30 - Transferred a male from Wairoa Hospital to the Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldier’s Memorial Hospital.
