Transport to Waiora and return patient to Hastings

11 months ago - Tuesday 2nd May
• 1400 hours At the request of the hospital transported a 59 y/o male to Wairoa after a short stay in Hastings Hospital. On the return journey from Wairoa transported a 70 y/o male patient, accompanied by a Flight Nurse and our Critical Care Paramedic to Hastings Hospital.

Respiratory transfer and winch from the Kaweka Ranges

11 months ago - Friday 28th April
• 1020 hours At the request of hospital flew to Wairoa with a Doctor and Flight Nurse to retrieve a 79 y/o male with a respiratory condition.
• 1300 hours Tasked by Air Desk to Kaweka ranges to a 65 y/o hunter with a sprained ankle, he had been located by LandSAR rescuers. A mechanical failure of the winch prevented our crew from completing the extraction of the injured hunter, so a rescue helicopter came across from Taupo to extract the hunter who was taken to Rotorua Hospital for treatment.

Stroke patient transfer from Wairoa

11 months ago - Tuesday 25th April
• 1850 hours Tasked by Air Desk to fly to Wairoa to meet a St John ambulance for helipad handover of a 59 y/o female patient suffering from a stroke, the patient was flown to Hawke’s Bay Hospital for follow up assessment and treatment.

Burns and stroke patient transfers

11 months ago - Sunday 23rd April
• 1025 hours Tasked by Air Desk to Hatuma to a 33 y/o male patient suffering burns as a result of burning rubbish, which exploded.
• 1415 hours At the request of the hospital transported a 77 y/o male patient suffering from a stroke to Wellington Hospital, he was accompanied by a flight team from the hospital and our own Critical Care Paramedic.

Stroke transfer and bad weather turnaround

11 months ago - Saturday 22nd April
• 0415 hours Tasked by Air Desk to meet a St John Ambulance at Wairoa Helipad for handover of a 44 y/o female patient suffering from a stroke – she was flown to Hawke’s Bay Hospital.
• 1820 hours At the request of the hospital attempted to fly to Wairoa, but because of adverse weather the helicopter was forced to return to base.

Birthing difficulties

11 months ago - Thursday 20th April
• 0919 hours At the request of hospital to flew to Wairoa with a Flight Nurse and Midwife to retrieve a 17 y/o female with birthing difficulties

Cardiac and infant transfer

11 months ago - Wednesday 19th April
• 1513 hours At the request of hospital to flew to Wairoa with a Flight Nurse and our Critical Care Paramedic to retrieve a 62 y/o male patient with a cardiac problem.
• 1754 hours At the request of hospital to flew to Wairoa with a Flight Nurse and Doctor to retrieve a 2 y/o child infant with a medical problem.

Quad bike rollover and Infant transfer

11 months ago - Tuesday 18th April
• 1645 hours Tasked by Air Desk to Patangata to a quad bike rollover where a 71 y/o male sustained a severe injury to his lower leg resulting in a significant loss of blood – the patient was flown to Hawkes Bay Hospital
• 2025 hours At the request of hospital to flew to Wairoa with a Flight Nurse and our Critical Care Paramedic to retrieve a 9 month old infant with respiratory problems.

Wellington transfer and PLB activation

11 months ago - Monday 17th April
• 0950 hours At the request of hospital transferred a female patient to Porirua for admission to Kenepuru hospital, the patient was accompanied by 2 staff from the hospital.
• 1415 hours Tasked by Rescue Coordination Centre to a beacon activation at Apiti (near Kimbolton), it was found to be an accidental activation and the helicopter was not required.

Spinal injury transport to fixed wing transfer

11 months ago - Sunday 16th April
• 1150 hours Tasked by Air Desk to Mangaorapa (south of Waipukurua) to an incident where a 16 y/o male motorcyclist had fallen and sustained spinal injuries – he was flown to Wellington Airport for handover to Life Flight’s fixed wing air ambulance for onward transfer to Burwood Hospital.
