A snowy rescue challenge!

A snowy rescue challenge!

The Hawke's Bay Rescue Helicopter Crew, responded to the Sunrise Hut in the Ruahine National Park, where a female in her 30’s had fallen from her bunk and sustained a shoulder injury. Low cloud in the area made it difficult to get to the hut, which was blanketed with 2 foot of snow.

She was transported to Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldier’s Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

In this video, you will see Crewman Geoff Taylor locating the helipad (a raised platform) through thick snow, and helping to direct Pilot Jeremy Bruce to land the helicopter safely.
