Lowe Corporation challenge others to join ‘Team Rescue Heli’
The team of eight, will be walking and running both the 10km and half marathon distances, helping to raise awareness and sponsorship for the Hawke’s Bay Rescue Helicopter, a charity that Lowe Corporation has sponsored for 25 years.
Managing Director Andy Lowe, who is hoping to finish the 10km distance despite an ankle injury earlier this year, said, “The Rescue Helicopter is an essential lifeline here in Hawke’s Bay and Lowe Corporation has been the Principal Sponsor since it became a dedicated service in 1992. We are proud that the Rescue Helicopter was chosen as the Partner Charity for the International Marathon again this year and we are excited about joining ‘Team Rescue Heli’ and to be going the extra mile for such an important local charity. We hope that lots of other local businesses will join us!’
Last year around 60 runners and volunteers took part in the first Hawke’s Bay Marathon as part of ‘Team Rescue Heli’, helping to raise over $10,000 for the charity. The Trust is hoping to build on that success this year, by getting a team together once again to walk or run one of the four events – the 3km kids run, 10km, half marathon and, of course, the full marathon.
Marketing and Fundraising Manager, Laura Hyde, said, “There is no minimum sponsorship to join ‘Team Rescue Heli’ – we just ask that participants raise what they can and proudly wear one of our running singlets on the day”.
She added, “If you haven’t already signed up for this year’s event – be quick – because entries close on 3 May!”
