Team put 'Best Foot Forward' for the Rescue Helicopter
Huge congratulations to all of our runners, volunteers and donors who helped make the first Air New Zealand International Marathon a success for the Hawke's Bay Rescue Helicopter.
Around 5,000 competitors took part in the events on Saturday 14 May, which included a 3km kids run, a 10km, a half marathon and a full marathon. Runners took in some of the best highlights of the region, with flat easy running through local cycle trails, vineyards, olive groves, quiet country roads - all finishing at the impressive Sileni Estates Winery where many celebrated their efforts in style!
Team Rescue Heli' had competitors in all events, including Josh Klutz (pictured) who won 2nd place in his age group for the 10km, a team from our Corporate Supporters SwimGym Hastings who competed in the full Marathon, and Kylah, who at 5 years old was one of the youngest runners and fundraisers.
Laura Hyde, Marketing and Fundraising Manager at the Trust said, "This was a fantastic opportunity for us as a local charity to not only raise some vital funds but to raise awareness about the work that we do in keeping Hawke's Bay safe'
'Collectively, the team has raised a staggering $8,000 from the event, and our thanks go to all our runners, walkers, donors, our wonderful volunteers, and the Event Organisers who made this all possible' she added.
Entries are now open for next year's event which will take place on Saturday 13 May 2017. If anyone is keen to join 'Team Rescue Helicopter' please contact Laura on 06 878 1630 for more information.
